Self-Titled Fifth Full-Length To Drop May 30th On Metal Blade Records

"American Death" is the latest single from progressive death metal progenitors RIVERS OF NIHIL. The ferocious new track -- a true-to-form beater that's sure to slay live -- comes by way of the band's eponymous fifth full-length, set for release on May 30th via Metal Blade Records. Sixteen years and five albums into the Pennsylvania band's career, RIVERS OF NIHIL is upping the ante with Rivers Of Nihil. Traditionally, a self-titled record can signal a return to basics and/or a fresh beginning, and in ten powerful songs, it's clear that both those factors are in play. Founding bassist Adam Biggs became the band's new lead vocalist/bassist in 2023; the same year marked the appearance of additional guitarist Andy Thomas (ex-Black Crown Initiate), whose vocals also play prominently on Rivers Of Nihil. Producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio captured the new dynamics across more than fifty minutes of music. On June 15th, 2023, the band released the single, "The Sub-Orbital Blues," the first track with Biggs handling lead vocals following the 2022 departure of singer Jake Dieffenbach. It was also the first track to feature Thomas. A second single, "Hellbirds," dropped on October 19th of that year. On April 29th, 2024, the band released the cut "Criminals" and an accompanying music video. Both "Criminals" and "The Sub-Orbital Blues" appear on Rivers Of Nihil. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Krokus - Round 13 [LP] 4/11/25 Krokus - Round 13 For the very first time on vinyl! 1970s Platinum-selling Swiss hard rock/metal band Krokus successfully broke the US market in the '80s and forged a path through the live sector there and on continental Europe that has continued one way or another to this day. In 1999, the band was back in the studio for 13th album, the appropriately-titled 'Round 13'. Welsh vocalist Carl Sentance (ex-Persian Risk, Geezer Butler Band) joined co-founder Fernando von Arb (guitars, keyboards), Chris Lauper (guitars), ex-Killer's Many Maurer (bass) for Round 13, with ex-Calhoun Conquer drummer Peter Haas returning. Fernando von Arb recalls: "I had wanted to revive the old Krokus but the band had all had babies and wanted to stay at home! "So we stopped for a few years and then I went to the UK and found Carl: such a pro, a pleasure to work with. It's a good album though on reflection I would have chosen a bigger studio: it was tiny!" Krokus sold over 15 million records, toured the world, and received gold and platinum record awards in the USA and Canada. In its 50th year, the band continues to perform live.

Nate Dressel had published an ebook many years ago detailing his chronicle of interviews with Heavy metal bands both known and unkiwn. He does a fantastic job of covering so many details. In the heavy metal underground community many struggling bands of those times needed people like nate to carry their flame forward to the underground masses. Tonechaser Book Review

Steven Rosen's tribute to his lifelong friendship with the legendary Eddis Van Halen, Tonechaser, is an excellent historical insight into one of the world's ultimate guitarist. The book encapsulates their relatonship and friendship. So many behind the scenes insights into the mindset of a musical genius. This is honest, raw, soul bearing testament to the truth of this musician's life both positive and negative. It shows the resilence of Mr. Rosen in his pursuit of gaining as musch knowledge of Eddie as possible. This is Eddie van halen's lasting message to all upcoming guitarists for the rest of time. Possible UFO reunion?

 

SEPTEMBER 27, 2024 - German guitar god Michael Schenker has left the door open for a reunion of the three remaining members of the classic ‘Strangers In The Night’ line-up for what would be an incredible last gig for the much-loved band.   “I don’t know if Phil’s physically fit,” says Schenker of vocalist Mogg in the latest issue of Rock Candy Mag. “But I’ll certainly think about a last UFO show if the possibility arises.” Schenker is clearly in the mood for revisiting his past, having just released an album of classic UFO songs with guest vocalists. He claims that he approached Mogg to contribute to the record, “but I’m not sure the message got to him. Managers can be funny sometimes.”   Mogg is currently working with his new outfit, Moggs Motel. But original UFO drummer Andy Parker is also keen to see if there might be a way for what would undoubtedly be a huge gig to happen.   “Absolutely,” he told Rock Candy Mag. “Why wouldn’t I be up for it? It’s down to Phillip, though. I’m really grateful that he survived his health scare a couple of years ago and is back singing. I miss [band members] Pete [Way] and Paul [Raymond] terribly, and I’m really grateful that Phil is still with us.
